Dr. Harrell utilizes the following treatment modalities.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) - is an evidenced based practiced focused on helping individuals become aware of inaccurate thinking so that they can face challenging situations more effectively (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_behavioral_therapy).
DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) - is a specific type of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy developed by psychologist Marsha M. Linehan to help treat borderline personality disorder. Not only has it become the gold standard of treatment for borderline personality disorder, but it has also been used to treat many other kinds of mental health disorders. Its main goals are to help people live in the moment, regulate emotions, cope skillfully with stress and develop healthier relationships. (see http://behavioraltech.org/resources/whatisdbt.cfm for more information).
Mindfulness - in its simplest form, mindfulness is being fully engrossed in the moment. It is having in-the-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, body sensations and environment without judging them. It allows us to participate more fully in our lives. Practicing mindfulness, even for just a few weeks, has been shown to benefit our bodies, our minds and our social lives (see http://mindfulnet.org/page2.htm).
